Another Crime Base Witness or Victim of the Sierra Leone civil war has testified to atrocities committed by people he only referred to as bad people and rebels. Through out his entire testimonies, the witness testifying in the Kono Language, one of Sierra Leone’s local languages did not mention RUF or AFRC. The prosecution 46th witness testified to how the civil war affected him and his fellow villages.

Amputation, decapitation, murder, forced labour, raped and burning of villages were well publicized as acts allegedly committed by the RUF Rebels. Little or nothing was known about atrocities committed the government supported Civil Defence Force, called Kamajors. Well, mass killing, burning of houses and the destruction of property by the Kamajors was the focus of the defence cross-examination of the prosecution 47th witness in The Hague today, Tuesday. Taylor’s defence team pointed out some prior inconsistencies in the witness’ testimonies about Charles Taylor’s involvement.
