The Former Liberian President Charles Taylor has strongly rejected the testimony of his former Deputy Special Security Service Director Vamuyan Sheriff bordering on alleged Taylor order of arm supply across the Liberia-Sierra Leone border to the RUF. Mr. Taylor said that, on the contrary, Vamuyan Sheriff was covertly involved in an illegal arm trade with RUF forces without the knowledge of the government of Liberia.

Charles Taylor has been responding to two key Liberian Prosecution witnesses, Hassan Bility and Moses Blah and a protected Sierra Leonean protected witness. All gave evidence supporting prosecution charges of Taylor having links with the RUF rebels in Sierra Leone. Mr. Taylor denied the testimonies of Hassan Bility that he was arrested for writing about Taylor`s support to the RUF and consequently tortured by Taylor’s security officers.

The Former Liberian President, Charles Taylor has said that Prosecution Expert witness, Steven Ellis was not as independent as the prosecution portrayed him to be. In continuation of his direct examination, Mr. Taylor also denied Former Liberian President Moses Blah`s evidence that the NPFL recruited child soldiers during the Liberian civil war. While confirming the detention of Blah, Mr,Taylor also denied ordering the killing of Sam Bockarie.

Charles Taylor responded to series of international Press reports linking him to the RUF war in Sierra Leone. He said the reports, including the ones written by Former Washington Post Correspondent, Douglas Farah and the BBC World Affairs Correspondent, Mark Doyle are part of western ploy to destroy him.
